As federal funding continues to level off or decrease across the modes of transportation, new innovative ways of managing capacity and building our infrastructure have come to the forefront. The function that technology plays has taken on an expanding role in planning and operating existing and new infrastructure. While pouring more concrete and laying steel will always remain an integral part of meeting demand on our infrastructure, technology has become another tool that is used to better communicate real-time information to travelers and businesses to reduce time, save money and make transportation safer.
