Dutko Worldwide : Building Public-Private Partnerships
home  :  practice areas  :  transportation

Although not a new practice, transportation is one of the fastest growing practices areas within Dutko Worldwide. The nation’s transportation infrastructure of highways, public transportation, railroads, maritime and aviation has not kept pace with the demands of a growing population and it has been unable to meet the mounting challenges of a rebounding economy. Imports have continued to exceed the capacity at our ports and our network of roads and rail cannot keep pace with a just-in-time delivery system the manufacturers and customers have come to rely upon. Congestion continues to increase and fatalities are beginning to increase.

As federal funding continues to level off or decrease across the modes of transportation, new innovative ways of managing capacity and building our infrastructure have come to the forefront. The function that technology plays has taken on an expanding role in planning and operating existing and new infrastructure. While pouring more concrete and laying steel will always remain an integral part of meeting demand on our infrastructure, technology has become another tool that is used to better communicate real-time information to travelers and businesses to reduce time, save money and make transportation safer. Through our long-standing relationships with Federal Agencies, Congress, State and Local governments our current clients have the opportunity to demonstrate the potential and actual impacts their products bring to the table.

As the country learns to accept the reality that America is and will continue to be under a constant threat from terrorism, it must accept the fact that the infrastructure we operate and depend upon may undergo some significant changes too. Working with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Transportation to ensure the safety of people and cargo will be a major undertaking in the upcoming Congressional session.

The clients we serve have included States, Cities, Railroads, airlines, Universities, research and technology sectors, and generally those interested in effecting transportation policy through the legislative process in Congress or through regulatory changes at the Federal Agency level.

As transportation issues continue to be debated at all levels of government, within all industries and around the world, Dutko Worldwide has the capability to “cover all the bases” to provide our clients with a comprehensive, clear and cogent strategy.
