Serving as Vice Chairman of Public Policy and Research at Dutko Worldwide, Gary’s public opinion research and analysis is used by Staffers, Members of Congress, the Administration, and private entities on a regular basis.
His extensive writing career includes serving as a weekly columnist for the Weekly Standard Online, and regularly contributing to publications like the National Review, Real Clear Politics, and Roll Call. He also writes a monthly column on presidential/congressional relations for Politco. His weekly column in the Weekly Standard Online is nationally syndicated on the Hearst Newspaper Wire.
Gary regularly conducts and analyzes public policy polling projects for Dutko clients. He has conducted a major and ongoing project called “The New Language of Health Care”. He also recently published Lobbying Reconsidered, a book about the new world of advocacy in 2008.
Prior to joining the Dutko Worldwide in 1993, Gary’s career milestones include serving as Vice President for Washington Research at Prudential Securities, Executive Director of Federal Relations for Southwestern Bell Corp., and as Deputy Assistant for Legislative Affairs to President George H.W. Bush.
Gary is also a Research Fellow at the American University Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies in Washington, D.C.
He earned his Ph.D. in Public Policy at the University of Illinois (Chicago).
