Kent Sholars is a Senior Associate in our Government Markets practice, where he provides strategic counsel on matters related to the Federal procurement process. Mr. Sholars brings a wealth of understanding about the interworkings of government agencies and the legislative process to Dutko Worldwide.

Prior to joining Dutko, Mr. Sholars served as the Manager of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs for the Contract Services Association (CSA), the oldest association of government service contractors in the US. While at CSA, Kent worked in a number of acquisition policy areas including the preservation of the integrity of the A-76 public-private partnership process, also known as competitive sourcing.

Previously, Kent was a political appointee during both terms of the administration of George W. Bush, serving as the Confidential Assistant to the Controller for the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in Washington, DC. His responsibilities at OMB included working on several initiatives of the President’s Management Agenda.

In addition to his experience at the Federal level, Kent was previously active in state-wide politics in his native Texas. Kent served on a committee staff in the Texas Senate during the 78th Texas Legislature as well as in volunteer roles in numerous political campaigns.

Originally from Katy, Texas, Kent obtained an M.A. (Political Management) with an emphasis in public affairs from the George Washington University's Graduate School of Political Management. Additionally, Kent holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Communication Studies from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.

In his spare time, Mr. Sholars is very active in his community. He serves on the board of directors for the Washington Metropolitan Chorus, as an advisor for Mobilize.org, a youth political mobilization organization, and on the Policy Development Committee for the Capital Fraternal Caucus.
