Prior to joining Dutko, Gabriel served as the Hispanic Outreach Coordinator of the Human Trafficking Program, a $10 million national program directed at rescuing and restoring victims of human trafficking. In that capacity he presented the Human Trafficking Program in many forums and conferences across the United States and Latin America. Gabriel has been interviewed by more than 50 media outlets, including Univision, Telemundo and CNN in Spanish. He also participated in building an anti-trafficking coalition in 17 US cities, which included more than 900 community and local non-governmental organizations.
Gabriel’s past experience includes residing for two years in the Dominican Republic as Coordinator of the School MIS, an $8 million project financed by the Inter-American Development Bank. He led a team of 12 people to install more than 7,500 computers in schools, training 3,500 teachers and launching a pilot of 450 schools where internet and education software were installed. Gabriel also coordinated the communication effort targeting the policy and business communities.
In 2000 he founded and became CEO of Edunexo.com, a software company focusing on schools and universities and providing solutions to the government. Edunexo had operations in Argentina, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Chile, and Spain, with a team of 55 people. Gabriel raised $3 million dollars in venture capital from Bank of America, SLI Investments, and Banco Santander.
He is a Senior Fellow at Atlas Economic Research Foundation and a member of the advisory board of FUDIS in the Dominican Republic. He co-authored three books about education policy.
Gabriel was born in Switzerland and educated in Argentina, where he studied economics at San Andres University in Buenos Aires. He is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., with a Masters in Public Politics.
