Herb Tyson comes to Dutko Worldwide after serving as Vice President for State and Local Government Relations, for the International Council of Shopping Centers. In that role, he guided the retail real estate industry in their relationships with governors, mayors and other elected officials and their staffs. He also directed ICSC’s international government relations and activities. As a Vice President in Dutko’s State & Local practice, Tyson continues to work with senior state and local leadership and their staffs on the behalf of Dutko’s widely diverse public and private client base.

Prior to joining ICSC, Herb served in the Clinton Administration as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, at the U.S. Department of State, coordinating activities with US Governors, Mayors and other locally elected officials. He also served in the Clinton Administration as Senior Advisor in the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs for the United States Information Agency. This agency oversees all US Government international exchange, public diplomacy and international broadcasting.

Earlier in his career, Herb worked with the Mass. Industrial Finance Agency; Merrill Lynch, WGBH TV Boston; and at Shawmut Bank of Boston. Most recently he served on the California Business Properties Association board and serves as treasurer of the board of the Montgomery County Revenue Authority. He is also on the Board of Directors of the American Council of Young Political Leaders.

Herb has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and also a M. A. in Public Policy from Tufts University. Herb and his wife Laura, and their three children reside in Potomac, Maryland.
