Insurance is one of those things that you don’t think you need until you find yourself needing it. And if the time comes where you need to replace your stolen or damaged items, you’ll thank yourself for making the investment into storage unit insurance.

Some storage unit companies will also require you to carry a certain amount of insurance in order to protect everyone involved. Are you still on the fence? here’s some information to help you make up your mind.

    What Is Storage Unit Insurance?

Similar to renter’s or homeowner’s insurance, storage unit insurance protects your belongings inside the unit. Whether this is from flooding, fires, or theft, it’s a good measure to put in place to make sure you are protected in the event something goes wrong.

    Protect Your Mini Storage Unit

An unfortunate fact of life is that there are thieves and criminals in the world, and they don’t discriminate on where they break into. While many storage facilities in the area are perfectly safe, it’s still wise to carry insurance to protect yourself in the event of a break-in.

    Check With Your Current Policy

If you’re a homeowner, it’s likely you have homeowner’s insurance. Some companies will cover all of your belongings, even if they aren’t inside your home. Check with your storage unit company as well as your current homeowner’s policy to see if your belongings can be covered under your current plan.

A lot of times, people try to save money by cutting important corners. Storage unit insurance is often one of them. At the end of the day, if you end up needing to use your insurance you’ll be happy you took out a policy. The few dollars a month is much cheaper than having to replace all of your belongings!
