Essential Tips for Maintaining Your Pool

An appropriate pool is attractive and fun and can serve as a house for leisure activities, exercise, and family time. However, maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of your pool necessitates constant effort and dedication. Sometimes it may involve protecting the water quality and at other times it may involve pool repair or protecting the walls, floors of the pool, etc.

Such care is mainly important in maintaining high functionality, safety, and swimming comfort in the pool. Here are a few key recommendations to assist any individual in effectively managing their pool.

1. Regularly Test and Balance the Water Chemistry

Balancing the water chemistry is very important for your pool, which is why you should always pay attention to it. It is advisable to frequently analyze the water to check whether the pH, alkalinity, and chlorine are at the ideal levels. The optimal value for pH should range from 7. 4 to 7. 6, the total hardness should be between 100 and 200 parts per million (ppm) and the alkalinity should range between 80 and 120 ppm.

Free chlorine should be within the range of 1 to 3 ppm to ensure water is disinfected and free from bacteria. Test kits for balancing chemicals in water can be easily purchased and used as a top-up in cases of imbalance. Balance avoids problems that are caused by chemicals such as algae formation, water cloudiness, and skin response.

2. Clean the Pool Regularly

It is crucial for a pool to experience proper sanitation since this is what keeps it looking attractive and hygienic. Sweep the water with cleaning wheels to eliminate all the stray leaves, insects, and other floating objects in the pool at least once a day. Sweep the pool walls and floor in addition to the pool floor at least once every week to reduce the chances of algae growth and to make the pool surface as smooth as possible.

Cleaning of the pool is to be done at least once a week to have the bottom of the pool free of any dirt and debris. Cleaning the pool might be a little challenging but with the help of an automatic pool cleaner, this work can be done more efficiently.

3. Cover the Pool When Not in Use

Covering the pool when it is not in use has its advantages. A cover such as a screen enclosure is used for the protection of water from dirt and also for heating and protecting water from the evaporation process. Hence, make sure to invest in screen enclosure repair to protect the pool. Pool cover can also play a safety aspect by avoiding falls into the pool due to accidents such as falling over.

If the pool is not in use during some portions of the year or for extended periods, then it is recommended that a high-quality pool cover be used for some of the reasons stated for protecting the structure from the weather and also for reducing the amount of work a pool requires during these periods. It also prevents the build-up of dust and dirt in the pool and helps in the reduction of chemicals.
