Are you getting bored while sitting at home? Why not take up a new task today? Think about doing furniture polishing at home. This will keep you busy!

Although wooden furniture has a timeless appeal, it requires periodic furniture polishing to keep its glossy and smooth. Many commercial-grade wood cleaners and polishes are available in the market but they are highly toxic as they emit VOCs. Alternatively, consider making homemade furniture polish for your wooden furniture. It is not only cost-effective but also free of harmful gasses. Don’t worry; there is nothing much difficult. You can make it at home with the ingredients present in your kitchen.

This guide will tell you how to do furniture polishing at home with natural, homemade polish.

    • Clean Wooden Furniture

The very first thing you need to do prior to doing furniture polishing is to clean your wooden furniture thoroughly. Wipe the furniture using a damp microfiber cloth to remove the dirt and grime followed by a dry wipe. If there are any stains or white spots on the furniture, wipe them using a solution made with lukewarm water and a few drops of dish soap. Then quickly wipe the surface with a dry cloth otherwise moisture can leave stains on your wooden furniture.

    • How To Make Furniture Polish At Home?

Natural, homemade furniture polish is one of the wonderful ways to remove grime, dust, and moisture on your wooden furniture. You can simply make this polish at home by combining equal parts of lemon juice and white vinegar in a spray bottle. Lemon juice works as a disinfectant and it leaves an appealing fragrance to the polish while vinegar removes grime and fingerprints from wood. If the wood is dark, you can also use apple cider vinegar.

You can also make wood polish by combining one-part lemon juice with two parts olive oil. Olive oil adds a protective layer to wooden furniture. It is advisable to always shake the solution before applying it. Coconut oil can also be used instead of olive oil.

Never store s furniture polishing mixture for so long as it may turn rancid with time. Only make a small batch of the polish which can be finished after an application.

    • Simple Steps To Do Furniture Polishing

Before doing furniture polishing, divide your furniture into small sections. Then add a small quantity of prepared polish on a clean cloth and apply to one small section of the wooden furniture, following the wooden grains’ directions to achieve the shine. Do the same with the next section of the wooden furniture. Never apply too much polish as it can act as a dust magnet.

So, this is how you can do furniture polishing at home. Furniture is the most important part of every house. Therefore, you’ll want to keep it looking new all the time. And one such way of doing so is by applying furniture polishing yourself. And fortunately, the technique is very simple and quick!
