Planning for a baby? Consult with the gyn surgeon new jersey now

As soon as a couple is thinking of having a baby, the woman must take a multivitamin that contains folate once a day. The lowest amount suggested for women of childbearing age is 400 micrograms, but some experts suggest taking slightly higher amounts, such as 600 or 800 micrograms. Such doses are frequently available in over-the-counter products, such as multivitamins. Folate decreases the risk of having a baby with a birth defect of the brain or spinal cord.

If the couple chooses to try to have a baby, they and the gyn surgeon in new jersey should talk about ways to make the pregnancy as healthy as possible. The woman must ask the doctor about factors that can impair her health or the health of the developing fetus.

Common factors or situations to avoid during pregnancy:

    • Being exposed to secondhand smoke, which might harm the fetus
    • Using alcohol or tobacco
    • Being exposed to hot temperatures for several hours
    • Having contact with cat feces or litter unless the cats are strictly confined to the home and are not exposed to other cats
    • Having contact with people who have rubella or other contaminations that may cause birth defects
    • Being exposed to paint fumes or chemicals
    • Having contact with people who have shingles or chickenpox unless the woman has had a test that shows she has had chickenpox and is immune to it

How to take care of the baby before he/she is born?

It is vital to look after your baby, even before he or she is born. You can do this by leading a healthy lifestyle and keeping doctor’s appointments while you are expecting. This is known as prenatal care. You are more likely to have a healthy birth if you maintain a healthy pregnancy.

    • Schedule an appointment with your doctor

Schedule an appointment with your doctor once you find out you are pregnant. Your doctor will begin by reviewing your medical history. He or she also will know about your symptoms. During this first appointment, blood and urine samples will be taken. Urine tests check for high sugar levels, bacteria, and high protein levels. Blood tests check for blood type, blood cell count, infectious diseases (such as HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis), and low iron levels (anemia).

The doctor may carry out some other tasks, such as:

    • A pelvic exam to check the size and shape of your uterus
    • An ultrasound to view your baby’s growth and position
    • A Pap smear to screen for cervical cancer

After your first visit, you will have a prenatal visit every 4 weeks. In 7th and 8th month, you will have a visit every two weeks. In your last month of pregnancy, the visits will occur each week until you deliver your baby. At each visit, the doctor will check your blood pressure and weight and test your urine. The doctor will pay attention to your baby’s heartbeat and evaluate the height of your uterus after the 20th week. You must discuss any issues or concerns you have with your gyn surgeon in new jersey.

For your baby’s sake and yours, it is important to take extra good care of yourself during your pregnancy and consult with the doctor at every step.
